Built in 1864 by the erstwhile British owner Lieutenant Colonel W.R. Wright, the Old Kent Lodge is perched at a vantage point within the estate. The verandah of the Lodge offers a breathtaking 180 degree view of the surrounding mountains and valley changing colours through the day and a panoramic view of the night sky after sundown.
Though the Lodge has vignettes of yesteryear, it has all the necessities of present day luxury tucked within it. The rooms have been designed as a reception, a dining room, a library and games area, a home theater, each fondly named after the members of the Wright family, who once inhabited The Lodge as their home.

One of the earliest estates established in India, the coffee estate is spread over 200 acres of flourishing coffee-bushes, surrounded by spectacular forested hills and gushing streams of crystal clear water.
The property was developed in the 1800s by Lieutenant Colonel W. R. Wright, founding member of the Coorg Planters Association (CPA), who was also a writer and a poet. His keen oversight of every branch of the plantation contributed to the transformation of the estate in just twenty-three years – from a jungle in which big game abounded to a highly cultivated and thriving estate and a delightful home to his family.
After Lt. Col. Wright, the property remained with his descendants until 1964 when it was bought by the present owners, the Thaikappa family, who hail from southern Tamil Nadu. In the following 5 decades, it has been enjoyed by four generations of the family as a cherished holiday home and a treasure trove of fond childhood memories.
